5772 Annual Support Campaign Message

Please Contribute to the 5772 (2011-2012) Annual Support Campaign
Dear Members and Friends of Temple Emanuel,

If you were a member or supporter of Temple Emanuel last year, we thank you, and ask you to renew your pledge now. If not, we invite you to please become a supporter at this time.

All Jewish adults and their spouses or domestic partners are eligible for membership. You may pay the suggested amount for your category, or as much as you are able. Temple Emanuel does not turn anyone away because of financial limitations.

Our goal again this year is to count every eligible person in our area as a member.

If you’re not Jewish (or the spouse/partner of someone who is), or if for any reason you don’t feel that membership is for you, we also welcome your support. But whether member or friend, you may complete your pledge all at once or at intervals, whatever works for you.

To make a pledge, just complete these two simple steps. Online payment options are now available:

1. Fill out the online pledge form (click here), or print out a paper form (click here for a copy) and send it in (we prefer that you fill out the online form – it makes it easier to compile information; but if you wish, a paper form is fine).
2. Pay online using a credit card or directly from your bank account (see above), or send in a check. If your payment will follow at a later date, just let us know on the form. But please, submit the form now.

If you are able to make the suggested donation (or more), wonderful. If you can only give a little, or if you can’t give any money at all this year (perhaps you can volunteer some time), that’s fine, too. But please, join. You might have noticed that there are very few Jews in this region! We need all of us to make a community! 

Accomplishments During 5771
Because of your generosity during the past year we could address some important maintenance issues and also purchase lovely new prayer books to enrich our Shabbat worship. The sanctuary and social hall were packed full on many joyous occasions. We’ve shared bar mitzvahs and baby namings, concerts, and a wonderful seder. And in addition, our fund raiser brought in a significant amount for the Idaho FoodBank. We’d like to do even more in 5772. Please give generously to help continue to provide a home for Jewish community in eastern Idaho. After 50 years, with only minimal recent investment in the building, quite a few items are needed. Get Involved
Please also consider getting more involved in Temple activities, especially if you have not been recently. Even more than anything else, your shul needs YOU! Temple Emanuel needs individuals with enthusiasm and a few hours of time here and there to put out newsletters, plan events, lead study groups, teach children, or serve on the board. To explore service opportunities, just check the box on your pledge form — or call 232-4758.

Remember, a synagogue is much more than a membership organization: it is a congregational home. Your annual support is not dues per se (we no longer use that term) — not a fee for services rendered — but rather a pledge to the community, to ensure that the synagogue will be there for those who need it when they need it. Those who came before us preserved our Jewish heritage for us by providing us with Temple Emanuel. We must do the same for those who will come after.
